Later blog entry than I'd planned but this is because we are now in Wellington. We left Queenstown with the intention of stopping over in Christchurch but found out it is so damaged by the earthquakes and constant aftershocks that going there would have been almost pointless. So we instead endured a 12 hour journey on the Kiwi Experience bus to Kaikoura. Not knowing what to expect we turned up at this, what seemed to be, small fishing village in torrential rain which after such a long journey wasn't the most appealing sight. Getting to our hostel was a relief, as was the little pizza cafe we settled in for an hour later that evening being told stories of the problems and woes of Christchurch by the lad who ran the place, as we were his only customers on such a miserable evening. The next day however couldn't have been nicer, pure sunshine and blue skies took up the whole day. Of course we were out straight away with it being such nice weather to scout the place and soon found ourselves hiring out bikes and trekking to the seal colony further along the coast. This all before a couple hours of reflection in the company of the local beer later on that day. There were consequences however, as we found out later that evening just how sunny it had been with us getting closer to having first degree burns on various parts of our bodies. Several more bottles of the local specialty did a good job in easing the pain though. The next day involved us travelling to New Zealand's capital city Wellington, on the north island which meant catching a ferry to get there. The ferry wasn't particular exciting although we were treated to a pod of around 400 dolphins circling the boat which was crazy seeing so many together which is apparently common out here. After the ferry we were in Wellington which is quite a nice change with it being a "big" city instead of the rural mountain surroundings we have been used to for the past week. Just checked in and we have decided to venture out very far tonight . . . to the very popular city bar located in the basement of our hostel building to take advantage of all the drinks vouchers we received when we checked in.

Anggi I am a senior cietizn and I am a totally against this new Big Brother control technology too. This Smart technology is all about control. You will get less power and pay more !!! It's not the EMF that anyone should be concerned about, it's the Big Brother Control System that is the enemy of our Liberty and Freedom. And how about seniors that need extra warmth in thier aging bones especially at night when the temperature drops! One must also take into consideration that it's the new technology embeded in electrical appliances that work in conjunction with the Smart Grid system. Such as the new toasters with the internal CHIP installed within. Smart Grid will then give less power to the CHIPPED toaster and give it to the CHIPPED dryer, and so on and so on. I say it's time to trash all the new fangled appliances and let them eat their heart out. They can fenangle the Smart Grid all they want, but if there's NO CHIPS in the appliances then they can't complete their mission !!! We the people can fight back in suttle ways. Gotta be one step ahead of all those idiots at the helm in powers that be. What are they going to do? Put us all in prison because we don't own a toaster, dryer or washing machine that doesn't kiss Big Brother's ass with internal CHIPS? Not !!! Time for We the People to take the reigns !!
