Sa Pa was the best experience of the trip so far. Amazing countryside and friendly people. Arrived at Sa Pa town early saturday morning, had a shower and breakfast at a hotel, and then off trekking around 11am. There was only 7 people in our group and we each had a guide, but there was a lot of other groups trekking around as well. The total distance on the first day was about 12km and it was all downhill so it was pretty easy, just bloody hot. We stayed overnight in the village with the locals and had dinner and drinks before getting a good nights sleep in the homestay. After breakfast we set off again. There was a bit of uphill walking this time and a lot of mud but it was only a 7km walk to the pickup point and the bliss of an airconditioned bus to take us back to the hotel. Got back to the hotel around 3pm and had a couple of hours left to explore Sa Pa town with a fellow solo traveller before catching the night train back to Hanoi, arriving back at the hostel early monday morning. Last day in Hanoi before heading south to Ninh Binh...
