Our Year of Adventure
It was a very uneventful weekend. We slept very well in a very comfy and warm bed; and for way too long too. But maybe that was just a consequence of trip coming to an end.
For the first seven months of our adventure we never really planned a thing. We wanted to be in Galapagos at a certain time of year, but we never pinned down a date. Everything was pretty much "What shall we do today and where will we go tomorrow?".
The final two months and more so, the last month, were chaotic. We had a deadline and we had so many things we wanted to see and do in that time. There was no let up, and to be honest, it was quite stressful at times.
There was no regrets though, for us it was the best way to do it and now it was about relaxing with family and recounting our tales.
We gave the washing machine a good run for its money, it's been given the workout of its life for the past two days. The boil wash, the standard wash, the wool wash, the GoreTex wash, you name it, it's been done. And given the good Scottish weather, the tumble dryer hasn't stopped either.
Laundry aside, we've been spoiled rotten. We haven't really moved from the table. We get up late morning and manage to make ourselves a coffee and a bit of breakfast, but that's the end of our day in terms of effort. We're then served lunch, afternoon tea, the bar 'opens' for drinks and then it's dinner time.
We did eventually get out the house on Sunday afternoon to visit David's Aunt Moira in Galashiels, just a 15 minute drive away.
