I was awake fairly early as was Fiona so were down for breakfast around 07.00. We sat inside again to avoid the mosquitos, there is no malaria here so we are not taking any tablets but there is dengue fever for which there is no vaccine. So far we haven't been bitten but we are using 50% DEET which will strip paint off chairs as I found out last night. We were picked up at 8.30 for a drive of about 75 minutes to Beng Melea temple which was built around 1165. It has had no restoration work on it and has a lot of vegetation on it with tress growing through the tumbleddown walls. Initially it was very quiet but we were then joined by several bus loads of Chinese and it became quite crowded. Apparently this is where they filmed "Two Brothers". No, I haven't heard of it either, but it stars Guy Pierce. We then left to drive for about 45 minutes to another temple built in 967 as a shrine to Shiva, again very interesting. This was a relatively small temple. The previous one was about 1km square. We decided to call it a day after that and returned to the hotel around 13.30 as we have a 05.30 start tomorrow! We lounged around the pool for the afternoon, very hot and sunny. Jayne sorted out a booking for dinner. Got one of the ubiquitous tuk-tuks. The Chanrey Tree was only a 7 or 8 minute ride away. I don't think The Highway Code is required reading here, everybody comes from every direction. The etiquette at crossroads is to beep your horn and carry on and rely on everyone getting out of the way. It seems to work even though people drive on all sides of the road, that is traffic coming towards you will be on both the right and left depending on which is there next turning. Most of the traffic is small motor bikes and most don't drive too fast. It I just wonder how it will be in 2-3 years time? The Vietnamese are building a fair number of new hotel complexes around the place which will bring in a lot more people. Anway dinner was very nice but I had to abstain from alcohol and only ate a light meal, I won't go into the details but I am glad we have Immodium with us. We were back in the hotel around 21.30 as we needed an early night to be up bright and early.
