Easter Bunny visited us today. The girls woke up to find that there were Easter eggs on the end of their beds.
A big fry up of eggs, bacon and baked beans for breakfast by Neil and Terry. We then hit the road and drove to a small waterhole that Neil and Terry had seen when they went our barra fishing. Lots of locals (actually NSW people who were all working in the area) were there so we had a quick look and kept moving, heading for Wyndham.
Drove up to the lookout in Wyndham to see where the 3 rivers join together. Then drove back down and went a bit further to Port Wyndham. found a nice little second hand shop which had lots of books and other things in it for sale. Sharon and Tanya then suggested that we all go to the pub across the road for a drink.
Got into the pub and Tanya and Sharon sat themselves down at the bar and started to chat to the bar lady, Sue and quickly made friends with her. We then decided to stay for lunch and most of us had sea barra and chips, with Terry having a steak burger. The barra was fantastic. Terry said his steak was good as well.
We made great friends with the bar lady, Sue and she invited us to come and stay at her house in Geraldton as she was going back there for a while for a break. Terry and Neil bumped into someone they had met on their barra fishing trip as well.
When we went to leave the pub, Sue gave us an engraved bottle each, which was engraved by a friend of hers.
When we left the pub an old aboriginal man came up to us with an engraved Boab nut and tried to sell it to us. sue came out and told 'willy' not to charge us too much and to sell it to us for the right price as we were her firends. Willy then explained to Joanna and Neil how her carved the nut and showed them his little carving knife. Neil bought the nut off willy for the asked price of $20, which was cheaper than the woman in the second hand book shop was selling them for.
Headed back to Kununurra as we had Andrew coming for tea. Andrew is the son of a lady that sharon went to school with, Deb, and he is up in Kununurra working as a pilot doing scenic flights.
He came for tea and we had a BBQ and he told us lots of stories about his adventures since he had been up here.
The kids rated the barra at the Port Wyndham Hotel as the best fish and chips ever.
Off to El Questro tomorrow, no phone, no power.
