Dave's Travels
Hi everyone
Got to Bangkok on Tuesday 11th April after the most boring flight in history - my TV screen had broken on the plane so had to watch head rest instead of Walk the Line, and managed to get to the hostel alright without to many mishaps.
It seems that I've managed to arrive for the Thai Water festival, Thai New Year and the 60th Anniversary of the King. The streets are packed from midday until about 4 in the morning with people throwing water over each other and smothering each other with talcum powder and water! Needless to say everytime you venture out of the hotel you return looking like you've had a cooking accident.
On Wednesday we eplored the Khoa San Road area of Bangkok, whilst getting covered in paste and tried to get used to the heat, about 40 degrees! Yes, people are walking around in jeans - mentalists!
On Thursday we went to a temple and a big palace, aparently they are really important - didn't really see the attraction but it seemed a nice cultural thing to do. See the pictures I took of big gold domes and statues.
Had a few nice meals at nightime - treated Gemma on the first night to a plate of Rice with vegetables - a snip at 35p! Everything is so cheap! Tonight we are off on a 14 hour bus journey to the island of Ko Pha-Ngan and then to spend a week or so on a beach - i'll put some pictures on soon. Hope everyone is safe and well back in England.
Regards
Dave
