Sydney Part 3
Well after 5 months it is finally time to say goodbye to Sydney, it's been great to live in one of the most famous cities in the world, if also one of the most expensive, but the time has come to start travelling once more. Since our last post we have done quite a lot of sightseeing, we took a trip out to the Blue Mountains to catch the great views (see the photos), we also saw the 'Three Sisters' which are a formation of rocks that are believed to be the daughters of a witchdoctor, who turned them into stone to protect them. During the trip we also rode the steepest railway in the world, which lived up to its name (mum it's a LOT steeper than the one in Wales), and was also the scariest thing Dave has ever been on, particularly as we were right at the front and there is nothing to hold you in.
We have also visited the world famous Bondi Beach, where even in winter people still sunbathe there, unfortunately the surf wasn't up to much that day so there weren't too many people out on the waves. We had a quick bite to eat there looking out to sea as it had been a few months since we had seen it.
Probably the best thing we have done in the past few weeks is climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge, which athough expensive, is something that niether of us are ever going to forget. Dave would have to admit that he was a little apprehensive about climbing up 141 meters above sea level, but once he got up there the great view of Sydney meant that he completely forgot about everything but. Rachel was a little more brave and she just enjoyed it the whole time we were up there.
So we only have three days left in Sydney, Rachel has finished work and Dave only has two days left, all the pennies have been saved and it is now time to travel up to Cairns, in a fixed Alma. On the way we hope to do some white water rafting, swim the great barrier reef and visit Fraser Island, and also do something that no one will believe, but you will have to wait till the next blog to find out what it was (ha ha).
Love and miss you all
Dave and Rach
