Unfortunately the drive from Broome to the Northern Teritory border was quite swift. As most of the things we had heard about in the Kimberly were clsed due to the wet seson. The roads were completely closed off. So Dave done a great deal of driving and i done a great deal... of... er, map reading i guess!!! (maybe some sleeping in there too !) We've kind of just slept, eaten and driven for the last few days so finally reaching civilisation yeaterday was much appreciated.
We had a couple of near misses with the weather. A few rain storms and some amazing lightening, but luckily nothing too bad.
The Victoria Highway, from Kununura to Katherine was closed for a few days before we reached there, and when we did reach it, we realised why. There was a brown line across the trees next to the road, which we soon figured out to be the water line from how much the rivers had risen. The car would've have been buried under water twice over... so now i see why most the roads on the kimberly are shut off during wet seson.. if that heappens to the highway, i imagine roads dont really exist inside the National Park!
