Well, I've pretty much only now decided to start this blog so the recap of the first 3 nights will be very brief, and is merely the beginning part of this journey.
After a transit flight which stopped in Dubai and which took 16 long hours in total (slept most of it) I arrived at the Rembrandt Hotel in Bangkok. I'll post pics of this shortly, it was a really grand hotel! I arrived ver late so the first night I just unpacked and took a stroll around the block, I found that I was in the heart of the city. It was hot, humid and busy, this was at about 12pm. On my way back, I couldn't help but get a foot massage, knowing well that it's a luxury and that I should take full advantage of it.
Day 2: Woke up to a hearty English breakfast, and made my directly to my tailor in the city. With all my measurements already in hand I consulted with him briefly and was assured that is have a brand new look in 2014 - watch this space! I thereafter walked around Bangkok and tried getting off at every station possible.
It was the Kings 86th birthday and as the night grew closer so did the crowd! It was insane and I landed up at a Muay Thai fight, and enjoyed the festivities with a cold beer in hand! Once again, I knew this would be a luxury in a few days time.
Day 3: Made friends with a tuk tuk driver named I can't remember. He took me everywhere and showed me everything. Introduced me to the real people of Bangkok, I somehow think thus guy could have been linked to the underworld. We drank, ate, and I gave him some of my old clothes which I brought from home. They are a nation steeped in poverty, much like SA, and are very grateful. To say the least, Day 3 was a debaucherous evening! Enough said! I came back to the hotel and stretched, literally!
