Hi everyone this is the third time that I have tried to update this blog so lets hope its third time lucky.
Anyway hope everyone is doing ok, we are both fine been busy going to see all the sites of Cape Town. The weather has been amazing aswell which is a bonus, Dal has caught abit of sun on his face but I dont have much of a colour as no time for sun bathing. Hope you like our pictures if this thing lets me upload them.
Day 1:
After a long flight we finally arrived and got through customs pretty quickly. We got a minibus from the airport with a few other people so we got a nice tour of Cape Town as everyone was staying at different places. The first thing you see is Table Mountain it is huge. Dal was no very happy about being able to see it all the time as he wasn't looking forward to going up there. Once we arrived at our hostel it was still quite early and we couldn't check in until around 1-2. We dropped our bags off and went for a walk around where we were staying so we could get an idea of where we were. We finally checked in at around 1 and the room was really nice very big with a nice bathroom which I was glad about, I think if it had been grotty I would of been very unhappy. As soon as we got into our room we dropped our bags and both fell asleep for about 4 hours as we were both tired from the flight. When we woke up feeling a little bit better we headed down to the V&A Waterfront to have a look around. There are lots of nice shops, restaurants and bars down there (I didn't go shopping though!!). We had a walk around for abit and found a bar that served Stella for Dal so he was happy. We had some dinner in there and Dal tried his first strange thing, he ordered ostrich carpaccio which he didn't know was raw ostrich. He did eat it all though and there was loads of it, I even tried some it tasted like smoked bacon but wouldn't try it again. Once we had eaten dinner we decided to go back to our room as we had an early start the next day for a trip to Table Mountain which Dal was over the moon about!!!
Day 2:
We woke up around 7.30 to get ready for our trip to Table Mountain, Dal was still very nervous about going up in the cable car and still didn't know if he was going to do it. We decided to try and walk to where the cable car was as it didn't look to far. After about 10 minutes walking in the sun I was ready to collapes as you all know im so fit!!!! We stopped to get a drink and a taxi stopped to ask if we were going to Table Mountain, he said it would be about an hours walk from where we were (It looks so close but I think thats because its so big!!). We jumped in the taxi and luckily we did as it was sooo far, once we got up there you were more than half way up the mountain already as I told Dal to make him feel better!! We queued for around 45 minutes to get onto the cable car, when it came to our turn Dal walked straight in to the middle and put his Ipod on. Everyone else including me were looking at the amazing view and Dal had his eyes shut which I thought was funny. Once we got up there Dal couldn't wait to get off the cable car and on to solid ground, he said the view was well worth the ride in the cable car though. We walked around and took some videos and pictures, then got some breakfast. Once we had been up there for about 45 minutes it was time to go down again, Dal did the same thing on the way down as he did on the way up and you will see this on the video that I took when we get home. Once we were again on solid ground we decided to do something nice and easy so we went to the Aquarium which was really good. They didn't have any Great Whites but they did have other sharks and lots of other weird things which we took some pics of. When we had finished in the Aquarium we went to the Robben Island museum to find out about the tickets for the trip there. They had some space on the trip for that day so we deciede to do it. It took around 45 minutes by boat to get there and the sea was very choppy. There were people being ill but luckily we were both ok. Once you get there you have a tour of the island on a bus which is very interesting, there are still people that live on the island now aswell not in the prison though!! Once the bus tour is finished you get a tour around the prison by an ex political inmate which was interesting, he told us about all the terrible things that went on there and how it changed over the years he was there. You get to see Nelson Mandelas cell which is very small, it is locked as it has original stuff in there but you can take pictures and videos. After this we headed back to Cape Town on the choppy boat ride again and saw a really nice sunset. We had another nice dinner on the waterfront and then went home as we were tired after the long day.
Day 3:
Today we had a layin as we had two long days before and thought we deserved it as were meant to be taking it easy as travellers!! We got up and went to see our travel people at our hostel to talk about booking the bus to take us up the Garden Route to safari. We booked our bus and safari together and we also get a transfer to Johanesburg the day before our flight which is good. We are booked to leave Cape Town on Monday 16th to go up to Port Elizabeth and then on from there we go to Durban and then safari on Wednesday 25th. It is a fixed camping site and we are staying in a big tent hopefully there are not to many insects!!! I'll let you know what it is like once we get there though.
Day 4:
We got up and went to the internet cafe in our hostel, I tried to update my blog there but their computers are s*** and I lost all the stuff I had written so I cried what a baby I was just so pissed off as I have tried 2 times and both times it messed up. We then got a taxi round to Camps Bay which is a nice beach where they have some nice shops and resturants. We went for walk on the beach and paddled in the sea but it is absolutley freezing. Tomorrow we are going to Cape Point which is where the two oceans meet I think its the Atlantic and the Indian, someone told us you can put you feet in and ones sides cold and the other sides warm but I don't know if I believe him (I'll let you know). We have now come to a different internet cafe and this is where I am now writting to you all, hopefully this works so I can at least let people know what we have been up to. Sorry it has taken so long but its not my fault I promise.
We love you all and hopefully we will update this soon. xxxxx
