Seeing as Paula was tripping down from Vancouver for a catch up with us in San Francisco, Mum & Dad Armstrong decided that it was a good idea for a family catch up and added an extra stop to their Central & South America holiday. We picked them up from the airport in Thursday in the people mover that Paula had hired (big enough to fit ALL our luggage) and set off for Yosemite National Park. Once in the park the drive was amazing with piles of snow all around and beautiful forests. We stayed in cabins in Curry Village, Yosemite Village which was a much nicer option than the tents as the first night it got to 0°C. We had an early morning on the Friday for a gentle 6mile hike to the top of the Nevada Falls which ended up taking us 6hours - we did climb 2000m and a lot of that was over snow - not ideal in sneakers. The rest of the trip was slightly more relaxed with sightseeing around Yosemite Village, eating, drinking, napping and shorter flatter walks. The views were amazing and it would be great to go back when it is a bit warmer when more tracks are open and there is less snow around.
