Hello everyone,
just a quick update on Chiang mai, as we planned we have been relaxing and just chilling out. We did do some rock climbing but only on artificial rock face, I could'nt even get to the top of that. A meter and a half away from the top I just could'nt pull myself up anymore, my whole body was shaking, ah well god loves a tryer. James managed it three times, Sly stallone cliffhanger eat your heart out!!!
Next day we wen't to see a few wat's (temples) as Chaing mai has the most in Thailand, holy but beautiful, peaceful places. My favourite was Wat U Mong!!! See pictures.
Today we have been to see the elephants at Mae Sa elephant camp. Great place, due to the ban on logging in Thailand more than two thousand working elephants are left with no work (no dole here!). So they are now entertaining tourists, the show they put on is amazing, they were playing football and i mean proper football, with one of them in goal and the others taking shots (see pics). Then they have them painting pictures, they all paint a different portrait and each one is really good, the only help they get is there trainer dipping the brush in the different colours for them; it really is unbelievable the pictures are beter than we could do and are sold afterwards. Each elephant has two trainers usually father and son, this is because the elephants working life is between 50-60 years, in Thai law when the elephant reaches 61 they have to retire and are released. We would recomend the show to anyone.
Hope everone is ok, off tomorrow for a 3 day jungle trek, update you's soon,
