Hello everyone,
arrived in bangkok monday afternoon and the city was half under water due to the monsoon rains (wish you where here). After 20 hrs on planes the taxi ride that should take 45 mins took 2 hrs, great fun. We then spent two days sweating, shopping and getting wet in this mad city. Loads of People everywhere all the time, then came the best bit the 15 hour overnight sleeper train journey up to Chiang Mai. Branson's trains have not got a patch on these babys, 40 people to a cabin all on bunk beds, service with a constant cheesey and a great friendly atmosphere.
I was getting heart burn due to too much spicy food so James wen't up to the buffet cart to see if they had any banana's for me, a few miniutes later James returned empty handed with a big cheesesy smile telling me "you've got to come and see this". The gun toting Thai railway police man, two or three waiters and stewardessess and the buffet cabin manageress all well on their way drinking singa and chang (thai beer) and boping away to the Eagles and Michael Jackson. The disco light lit cabin was rocking and the atmosphere was great, the passengers enjoyed it aswell!!! (Danielle had to be restrained from moonwalking in the disco cabin on more than one occasion), great night.
Arrived in Chiang Mai this morn, seems a lovely place, really laid back. The plan- to relax, rock climb, go jungle trekking and eat some delicious thai food.
Miss you all loads (not really) James and Danielle *********
