18-26 December 06 Ko Phan Ngan
From Ko Tao we got the sea catamaran over to Ko Phan Ngan. On the catamaran we had two choices; one was to sit inside where it was all enclosed, or the other to sit upstairs where the boat was open top with seats, so we sat upstairs. We did not realize what we had done until the boat got going. The boat was going full steam ahead, about 40 miles per hour and the sea was very rough and choppy. We were perched for 45 minutes, scared to stand up incase we fell (as a few people did) with big waves slapping us in our faces, holding on for dear life all the way there We ended up like two drowned rats. Good fun! (see pics) James was laughing at me telling me that I was gonna get sea sick, when he was getting greener by the minute. We got off like we had been stuck on a mixture of the big one, the waltzers and the water log. Who needs Alton Towers!
Ko Phan Ngan is an island off Thailand with stunning beaches. It is here where they hold the famous full moon parties (the biggest beach party in the world), but unfortunately by the time we got there we had only just missed one. Our bungalow was right on the beach with our own hammock, (which we fought over the whole week) and our neighbour was Grizzly Adams himself. (Some mad American guy who lives there for 6 mnths of the year).
Our time in Ko Pagn Ngan was pretty uneventful, we spent our Christmas here, managed to get a decent Christmas dinner and got really homesick. Glad to say we are now recovered.
Next stop Krabbi
