(LOST IN SAIGON)
Our last six days in Vietnam where spent in Ho Chi Mihn City formally known as Saigon. This was before the North Vietnamese beat the South and kicked out the Americans. We really enjoyed our time in Saigon and found that the people get more friendlier the further South you go. Although the official name for the city is Hoi Chi Mihn (they changed the name after the war), 99% of the people still refer to it as Saigon.
On our first day in Saigon we wen't to the war history museum where we seen lots of left over US artillary, and read/ seen about the attrocities committed by the Americans (although it was all a one sided story).
One night on the town we were sitting in a bar when a western couple came in, got a half bottle of something, had a shot each and then left with the rest of the bottle. As the saying goes 'curiosity killed the cat,' we decided to order two shots of whatever they were drinking. This turned out to be Vietnamese rum. After our second shot one of the bar staff told us that if we bought the whole bottle she would write our name on it and we could return the next night to finish it off. This sounded like a really good idea as the rum seemed to flow so well. Three hours later; much to our suprise and the rest of the bar staff, we had polished the whole bottle! The rest of the night was a blur!!!
Saigon is probably the busyest city in Vietnam although we found it strangely relaxing.
Next stop Cambodia speak te ye al soon,
