Well it seemed like an epic journey but I finally made it to Hong Kong. The first two flights were over night from BA to Lima and then Lima to LA, where I went (back) through five time zones and arrived in LA at about 7 in the morning. The third flight left LA that evening but arrived in HK a day and a half later due to crossing the international dateline backwards, meaning that I arrived almost three days after I left Buenos Aires. Work that one out!
Whilst in LA I took advantage of the opportunity to have a wander around Hollywood. Didn't see anybody famous, although knowing me I would have not realised they were famous anyway! The oscars are being held in a couple of weeks and there were a load of people dressed as movie characters, e.g. superman, spiderman, Supermario etc. although Darth Vader looked like he had put on some weight since making the last Star Wars film. I tried to get to a beach but spectacularly failed, due to a slight navigational error (the metro stations are named after streets not areas, so Redondo Beach station is not actually anywhere near a beah.....oops). I did see MacArthur Park though, for the brass players among you (not sure if it was the one the song is named after but it will do for me).
I won't say too much about Hong Kong as I've only been here a few hours but am pretty impressed with what I have seen. The place I'm staying in is pretty smart and right next to Happy Valley Racecourse. The intensive period of chopstick training I went through before leaving the UK has stood myself in good stead so far, although I've discovered that they do give you spoons with some meals here.
I should have mentioned earlier that I went to a Tango show before I left BA. It was very touristy and not something I'd normally do in the UK, but well worth it, the dancing, music and costumes were amazing, not to mention the free drinks all night...
Now I'm in HK it feels a bit more challenging that the previous destinations, due to the language/cultural barriers. Although they do seem to drive on the left, which should help prevent me from being run over. Apparently in China blogging sites are monitored by the Government, so if this site mysteriously dissappears or you don't hear from me for a while, then that may be the reason! Anyway, hope work is ok for everyone and the areas testpiece is going ok.

Micki & John Really enjoying your blog, Dan. Sounds like you are having a great time. We can't find your schedule anymore - has it disappeared or is it hiding somewhere?
Mum Yes; it took me a while to work out why the trip to Hong Kong took so long. Glad you're not starving! Looking forward to hearing about China; hope we don't lose the blog or you for that matter. Take care. X
Dan Not sure why the schedule is not coming up - I can see it when I edit the site but not when you view it publicly, will investigate... Hope all is well in Wale.
Dan Will hopefully still be able to use the website but Facebook is apparently banned in China as I'm not sure they like that kind of thing. Will find out soon enought I guess...
