Thursday 30th June
Got woken up around 7ish by the carriage attendant telling us we had arrived at our stop which was Nha Trang which is basically just a beach town. We went for breakfast and then while the rest of the group hit the beach, both of us went for a little explore around the town. We soon joined the gang and spent a few hours chilling on the beach and in the water. We had our first experience of sea lice, which are tiny little creatures that bite you and it stings!!
In the afternoon we went to a spa with the main attraction being the mud baths. There were also mineral showers and hot springs which we made full use of. After all this we chilled in a swimming pool and let the rest of the afternoon drift by.
We headed back to our hotel before going out to dinner at a bbq restaurant. Here you are served raw meat and veg along with your very own bbq. Due to this the restaurant was extremely hot so we drank plenty of ice cold Saigon beer to keep the sweat back.
We next went to Why Not? Bar where happy hour was on. 25,000 Dong buckets were on the menu so we had 4... We set up camp around a pool table and continued in the championship between us and the other 2 lads. We also left alot of messages and signatures on the walls including many mentions of both Southampton and Reading FC.
Friday 1st July
Woke up with a member of our group sleeping on the floor and didnt know why largely thanks to the buckets we had had the previous night. We missed breakfast at our hotel as we had been told incorrect information about when they stopped serving so we went out into the town to find Crazy Kim's where we all got egg and bacon baguettes to nurse our hangovers.
We had the afternoon free so we all just hung out around the hotel pool.
In the evening we went out to find an Italian restaurant Fernando's which as it happened came highly recommended from the Italian member of our group! We both had pasta as we hadn't any that was decent since we left England. During the meal a girl from Tim's course at uni came running in as she had seen us from the street. The genius idea of a takeaway pizza for our next overnight train came from here.
Later on we went to the train station only to find that our train had been delayed so we sat on the station platfrom fighting the urge to eat our pizzas. Eventually it turned up and although it wasnt quite as nice as our previous one, it did the trick and it wasn't long until we were fast asleep.
