So this is the first entry of our blog. The journey starts in Bangkok which is a mental city! The streets are always busy with cars, tuk tuks, bikes etc basically doing whatever they want. Wouldnt fancy our chances driving ourselves around!
The hotel we're staying in isnt too bad. Basic but for the price we're paying (about 8pound a night) we cant complain. And we havnt seen any cockroaches yet! Bonus!
The first night out was pretty eventful. We step outside of our hotel and we're in the thick of the action. Everywhere you walk people are trying to sell you something, we were mostly interested in the people selling the drink, although later on in the night Dan became interested in the people selling crickets! The beer is cheap, it costs around 50p for a pint but there are always deals about so you can always get cheaper!
The tuk tuks work on a commission so they rarely take you where you want. Just trying to go home means you end up at about 4 more clubs until you actually get there!
Anyway that will have to do for now, my credit on the computer is running out! Ciao for now!
We managed to get over our hangovers and headed out to see a few of the sights. The grand palace is possibly the most common tourist attraction so we headed over, by taxi this time instead of those dam tuk tuks! We both needed to borrow clothing as shorts are considered disrespectful so we paid a deposit and recieved a lovely pair of trousers that did us no favours in the blistering heat! Anyway we walked roundfor a bit and saw temple after temple and the emerald buddah which apparently is pretty famous.
On sunday night we decided to go and check out the Sirocco sky bar which is where some scenes from the hangover 2 were filmed. You're walked every step of the way by various members of staff, then put in a lift and sent up 64 floors. The view up there was breath-taking andyou can see a total different side to Bangkok. Lights glimmer as far as you can see and its oddly quiet up there. BUT the beers were a bit out of our normal price range so we only stayed for one and headed back for the hustle and bustle of Khaosan Road.
