Wednesday 6th July
We arrived in Hanoi at about 5 in the morning where we were catching a bus transfer to Halong Bay. The streets were already filled with old people working out. It was a 4 hour trip to halong bay and when we arrived at the hotel we scoffed down a breakfast before leaving for the port for midday.
We had our own private boat for a 4 hour tour of the bay. While we headed out into the bay we were served an amazing seafood lunch including prawns, crab, grilled fish. calamari and spring rolls. As the islands approached we braved the 40 degree heat to go up on deck and start snapping away with our cameras. We cruised around for a while but it was a bit strange because it was oddly quiet and the water was very calm. The views were amazing though and we took plenty of photos. After about 2 hours of cruising we went to visit 2 massive caves with huge limestone formation in them. It was even hotter inside and the humidity was almost unbearable but we braved on got through to the other side.
We headed back to the hotel and learnt that we were allowed to use a neighbouring hotel's pool as our hotel's one was being repaired. We dropped all our stuff and went for a dip. In the evening we didnt get up to much as Halong city is only really made up of hotels that people use to visit the bay. We went out of got some water and crashed in our rooms for the night watching CNNs version of crimewatch.
