Yesterday was again a nothing day in the wonderful land of Ibiza. We slept in then up for our free brekky and off to wash clothes. To us washing is like buying new clothes. Once again we have a whole new wardrobe to choose from. Well when I say it's a new wardrobe it's more like 3 combos of clothes but you get the picture. We don't really have to think long about what we will wear for the day. The rest of the time we spent in the hotel except for my trip to KFC at dinner time.
We definately chose the wrong time for Ibiza. We learnt that there is a fair on this weekend and one of the big clubs is reopening on Friday night. Oh well, you win some you lose some. Talking to a local and he said the population swells from 100,000 to 1 million in summer. I really can't imagine the place like that. It would be crazy getting anywhere or doing anything. Maybe one day we'll come back, and in the summer this time. Moral here everyone is research, research, research.
Today we were so excited. Finally off the island. We filled in the day by video skype to the parents. So good to see your faces. We also booked the next legs of our trip but more on that later. Then we jumped in a taxi and off to the airport for our flight to Madrid. We were a few hours early so sat around reading and chatting. Funnily enough most of the shops were closed at the airport. C'mon plane, get us out of here!
The time finally came and we boarded. After a one finger salute to the island we were away and back to a working civilization again. We grabbed the metro into the city and checked into our hotel. Comfy enough even though back to sharing a bathroom and no towels. It's amazing how much you take for granted simple things like wrapping a big towel around you after a shower. These travel towels do the job but they deny you a simple pleasure in life that you probably never think about.
From what we have seen Madrid is another beautiful city. It is bloody cold though and we are expecting snow here on Friday. Can't wait to get out exploring tomorrow. We left the hotel about 10pm to find some dinner and settled on a kebab place. Jac grabbed a seat while I ordered. They didn't speak any English and I had a little trouble getting the order across. I learnt that if someone can't understand you, then saying the same thing, only louder, really doesn't mean that they will all of a sudden realize what I am saying. Eventually through lots of hand gestures and loud voices, we came to an understanding and had a great feed. Then back home for a shower and bed.
Our itinerary for the next few weeks are: Madrid until the 7th. Then to Malta until the 14th. Fly in to Pisa for a night then catch a train on the 15th down to Rome. Then we wing it up to Berlin on the 21st and stay there for Chrissy until the 27th. We decided on Berlin as they have plenty of markets that even operate on Xmas and Boxing Day so at least we know we will be able to get a feed. We are staying right in the heart and will have plenty of events close by to give us some festive spirit and try and keep us happier about missing all you guys.
