The sun was shining after we woke from a great sleep. Had a skype with mum then caught as bus in to the city. As we were walking in to the city walls we saw a nice looking pizza place with a great smell. Being lunch time we stopped & decided to get just a large between us. Well everyone gasped in our near vicinity as it came out, it was the size of a car tyre. We did our best but could only manage 3/4 so requested a box & were on our way. We explored a little of the city & found ourselves at the old port. By this time I was sick of carrying the pizza box so we sat beside the water, had a few more mouthfuls then threw the rest out. Jac wanted to do an island cruise so we spent an hour going round to all the different operators getting their spiels before settling on the first one we had spoken to. So that is tomorrow sorted. We then had a walk through the alleys & up to the end of town so we could walk the walls. This took the next couple of hours & is a pretty unique experience, as it is one of the most complete walls in Europe. Being 2 km's long & surrounding the old town it gave us amazing views over the city & coastline. It was hard work as we were constantly climbing & descending & the sun was beating down hard. Once completed we sat by one of the fresh fountains drinking it's cool waters. Once we regained some strength we went and viewed a gallery that showed pictures from photographers during the Balkan War. Very sad. It was then back to exploring the streets & back alleys. These are narrow & twisting & give Dubrovnik a lot of the charm it is renowned for. Actually the city is pretty bloody spectacular, if it wasn't for the loads of cruise liner passengers blocking it up every day. And yes I am aware of the fact that we are tourists too, we're just more awesome than them. About 7pm we headed to an Irish Bar to catch up with Chris the kiwi who we had met in Sarajevo. The next few hours were filled with tales of travels, home & of course beer. Before we knew it 11pm had rolled around & it was time to catch our bus. We wandered out of the walls & said our goodbyes, hopefully to meet again down south. Arriving home we collapsed into bed for another peaceful sleep, probably to dream about Dubrovnik... or beer, but no probably Dubrovnik, but then again.
