So... I lied. Never a good start. I'm nowhere near Auckland. In fact, even in a week I won't actually be any further than Terminal 5 with a big back-pack and still another 3 flights away from New Zealand.
Just thought I should check how this site works but might as well give a little summary of what I've been up to this year...
I worked until December at the (Chorleywood) Gate getting in a sweat about food orders and table numbers and generally living it up at the staff house with a brilliant bunch of Saffies, Aussies & a select few locals.
I then worked a couple of months at the Savoy bar in Argentiere honing my snowboarding skills on days off and getting my French up to scratch for the local barflies before setting off to Paris.
Having done my best to avoid Parisians at all costs, I took a language course in the french capital to keep it all ticking over and to tackle french grammar for the first time in a couple of years. All in all I had an amazing time in spite of the accepted price of a pint being a minimum of 5 euros!
I got back to the UK just a few days ago and after a weekend in Wales with the family I guess that NOW I've finally got to start reading up on Shanghai & NZ (I've got my parents and sisters to read up on California!) just a week before departure. Shame that Wimbledon and the World Cup are on because that makes it far less likely that I'll get anything done... even after England's dismal exit.
I'll do my best to update this blog whenever I can and any comments/messages will be greatly appreciated... there's an option when I've finished my blog, to get it printed off and made into a book and I'm sure it would look much better if it's not all written by me!
Over and out.
