Lets take this gig global!!
Hey folks,
Time for another update I reckon. Well, after leaving Dunedin chris, hannah and I headed off on our road trip early Tuesday morning. We cruised the south coast scenic route most of the way which was sweet and stopped off at any of the numerous 'sights' which took our fancy. It didnt get off to a smooth start though with Chris leaving the lights on at our first stop, Nugget point, so we returned to find the car wouldnt start - flat battery!!!
After running about 2 km we luckily ran into a car and he took us down to the nearby town to try and get some jump leads. Anyways, we got some and it started up ok so not as bad as it could have been. Only 40 mins out of the day!!!
So, other stops included various coastal viewpoints and formations to wonder over and then we hooned it through the Catlins Forest national park with a few short walks and waterfalls on the way before shooting down to Invercargill. From there, it was northwards and upto the pretty little town of Te Anau.
On wednesday we headed out for our day trip to the most visited place in NZ - Milford Sound. Fortunately the weather held out for us (they get upto 9m of rain a year so you can guess what its normally like here!!) so the views were spectacular on the drive into the sounds and just grew and grew in statuer as we got closer to the fiordlands themselves. The highlight is the 2 hr boat trip on the sound and to be honest with you I was going to try and sum it up in awe-inspiring words and magnitude but now that I am trying to, no words or pictures could do it justice, not even close!! Lets just say that it was by far the most spectacular scenery I have ever seen on this trip and in my lifetime - end of!! A different gravy!!
So as you can imagine it was quite a good day on the whole!! Today, we woke upto a beauty blue bird day so headed off early doors to catch the 2nd biggest lake in NZ in all its pristine glory before heading upto Queenstown. Now all the books rave about the Great Ocean Road and the west coast of NZ but for me this was the best drive that I have done so far!! Awesome!! Everything you expect from NZ, lush green rolling hills, lots of sheep, huge deep blue lakes and all enveloped by snow capped mountains being hugged by the long white thin cloud!! Quality!
So, I am now in the adrenaline capital of the world and looking forward to getting involved!! I am off to do my snowboarding this weekend which I am totally pumped for and awhole host of other crazy stuff so will keep you updated soon.
Hope all is well at home,
Enjoy the sun whilst I enjoy the snow!!
