Finally we could afford to go to Bath for the weekend and we must say it was worth the wait. We went thursday through to saturday which was about the right amount of time to get around the city.
We drove there on thursday and got to Bath around lunchtime we got lucky with the weather as it was dry and the sun was out. We dropped our bags off at the Hotel and walked into the city. We strolled to the Thermae bath spa which has a rooftop pool, steam rooms, treatments and other pools - we decided to go there on saturday. We strolled to the Abbey and the pump rooms which were located close together and took a few snaps before grabbing some luch from one of the many cornish pasty shops nearby.
After our brief pit stop we walked towards the circus and the royal crescent to the west of the city. The crescent is as the name suggest a crescent of old architectural style buildings with a huge green in front of it. We continued past the royal crescent to the victoria park and botanical gardens. Not so much botanical gardens more of a small pond with a few ducks and a few fields, though it was quite cute.
Time was moving on so we headed back to the hotel and got ready to go out for some dinner. We headed back into Bath and ate at TGI fridays, which although not too original was quite nice and there was a weatherspoons across from it so some cheap drinks followed.
The next day we headed to the Therma Spa, which was well organised as the weather was not as nice and it was beginning to rain. The spa was absoloutely lovely we bought the basic package which included entry to a pool on the ground floor, steam rooms, foot treatment and rooftop pool for 2 hours. We had about half an hour in the ground floor pool and in the jacuzzi before heading upstairs to the steam rooms and foot spa. There were a number of steam room pods and foot spas which you just help yourself to. Afterwards, we decided we would brave the cold and go up to the rooftop pool. To our suprise the clouds were beginning to break up and it was actually dry. The water in the pool was lovely and warm and we had a nic view of the abbey and some of the surrounding buildings.
After we finished our relaxation we went for an educational visit to the roman baths. Well we were in Bath after all!! Check the pics for a spooky ghostly figure in one of the internal West Baths as we came to the end of the tour.
We went for a nice meal at Cafe Rouge in the afternoon as we were going to watch a comedian at 7:00pm at the Rondo theatre. We got ready in our hotel before going to watch a pretty good comic actually in Natalie Haynes. Although the people who went to the theatre were all yocals and a tad weird the night was really good and Natalie was really quite amusing. We did however head back into Bath for some drinks and ended up in the Litten Tree! And god did we feel old!!!
The next day we decided to do a bit of shopping and take back some jeans I had bought the day before as the belt loop had broken off. We had a nice day walking around the shops before it decided to belt down! We came to the decision it was time to go home and made our way back up the M5 to lovely Redditch!
