Hey everyone,
Havent updated this for a while, so we decided to tell you all about our lovely visit to Paris. Even though it was the rugby world cup we still had a great time. The weather was once again absoloutely beautiful and the scenery was breathtaking. We did manage to put together a few french phrases and I will remember l'aricot vert for the rest of my life!!
On the first day we tried to visit all of the sights we could possibly see north of the Seine as we were right by Gare du Nord. I have to say if you can stay near to the station and get a metro pass it is the best way to see the city. The sights we hit on the first day included: sacre couer, gare du nord, concorde, la louvre and arc de triomphe all of which in the beautiful french sunshine. We ventured inside la louvre and managed to see the Mona Lisa - very good experience.
We had a nice meal on the night near to Gare du Nord and ended up having a nice american style steak with veg! Shell of course had chicken and potato... We then made our way to Notre Dame to get on board our night sightseeing bus, which left us stranded because it was early! Eventually we got on and set off and saw everything all lit up, which looked really pretty, unfortunately because we were constantly in motion my camera couldnt keep things in focus so my photos didnt come out very well! The bus dropped off us at the show, which was more amusing than any show I have seen including comedy shows as it was frankly bizarre! One minute they were in a pyramid dancing and the next they were on a catwalk - very odd. After the show we wearily made our way back to the hotel and had a good nights sleep ready for our busy day of seeing the sights south of the seine.
We began the day seeing notre dame and inside of the beautiful cathedral before moving round and making it up to the very top of the eiffel tower, scary but brilliant! We then had a nice lunch by the eiffel tower consisting of a cheese and ham baguette washed down with a nice soft drink. Moving on we saw les invallides, palace de luxembourg and the french statue of liberty!
On the night we had a nice mexican meal by Notre dame before catching the tube back to gare du nord and had a nice bottle of house wine by the hotel. We ended up being witnesses to a bike theft!
The following day we headed to Disneyland for a trip to both the disneyland resort and universal studios. The universal studios wasnt particularly big and the tower of terror was still being built, but I have to say the rock 'n' roll rollercoaster is pretty damn fast and the scooby doo coaster has much more than meets the eye! We also saw a police academy stunt show which was pretty funny before venturing off to the main resort. We managed to get on practically everything and space mountain didnt disappoint. We left the park at pretty much closing time and had a meal at a place near to our hotel. I ordered a nice steak and potato with green beans, shell had chicken and jacket potato, however the green beans didnt turn up, instead I got double jacket spuds! So I have learned that the phrase for green beans is l'aricot vert! Dont forget it!
All in all we had another fantastic experience in Paris and enjoyed every minute next stop - brugge!
