We have just escaped the Taman Negara Jungle.... we have to admit that we were totally unprepared for this! We had gone with the expectation of a nice easy treck through some lovely jungle, what we got was a back breaking slog through dense rainforest and leech attacks!
Our first day was a very enjoyable 3hour hike to the first hide we stayed in, we were the only ones in this particular hide and so were quiet enough to spot some samba deer! awww! We also had a crazy thunder storm that night!
Our second day we hiked an ambitous 9 hours into the jungle, as we thought we maybe able to spot some more animals. We hiked up and down steep rocky banks that required more steam than we both had! After arriving half dead we found the hut was really busy and loud so surprise surprise we didn't see a thing!! Ha Ha! However Dale thought he heard an elephant (they are in the forest as well as tigers), but as it turns out it was just a man in the loo blowing his nose!!
We also ran out of water and food, but some kind girls with a guide fed dale and another couple purified some water for us! Thank goodness! We decided if we ever do anything like this again we will come more prepared!!!
We are off to the Cameron Highlands to drink tea and recover now! xxxx
