Hello again,
We crossed the border into Laos early on sunday morning and caught a slow boat bound for Luang Prabang. The boat sailed down the gorgeous mekong river for two days, stopping overnight in a weird little village called Pak Beng. Liz saw elephants on the banks of the river, sadly this was during the two minutes that Dale went to the loo in the 7 hour journey!
We finally arrived in Luang Prabang, a pretty city with a French architectural flair, although it is overrun with tourist restaurants and gift shops. We took a river cruise to Kuang Si waterfall with a European couple we met. The waterfall was really cool, we even managed to clamber to the top for a peak over the edge!
We visited Phu Si temple on a small hill in the centre of the town and were quite excited to find signs at the top directing us towards Buddha's footprint. We were however a little mystified by the 5 foot rock formation that scarcely resembled a bear print!
