Today we woke up early to visit the Versailles Palace. We were struggling to get up because it is hard to get up early, (just like school days) :) We felt a bit less tired after breakfast so we packed what we needed and left. We caught the train to Versailles which took just under an hour. We bought our tickets and made it through the scanner where it checks your bags :)
We looked inside the palace first and it was really amazing to see how much money the kings and queens of that time spent on themselves! I also learnt quite a lot. I liked seeing the bedrooms the most. Everywhere there were paintings, millions of them and all the rooms were spectacular. After looking inside the palace we got our lunch and sat down to eat. It was REALLY annoying because lots of wasps kept surrounding me!
After lunch we had a walk around the gardens, the garden is HUGE. We then went to Marie-Antoinette's house, where she went for holidays. It is weird how she has a holiday place inside the gardens. I read that she was the only queen ever to put a personal taste on the Versailles, breaking the traditions.
She wanted to have her own little country style village so she had one built just for her. She had her own personal theatre, house, lake, houses for other people (probably servants and soldiers) and so many other things. If she wanted something it would be built straight away. It is amazing how much money she spent on herself for such little and occasional things. She built it for amusement for her and her two boys. Anyway we explored her town and it was spectacular. When we came across some other little houses for soldiers and servants there was a lake and as we crossed the little bridge there were millions of fish fighting for food. It was really cool and I am hardly exaggerating when I say millions!
I wish everyone could see the palace and agree with me when I say it is amazing!
I loved every minute of it!
