We travelled down into Katherine and spent the day getting shopping and washing clothes before heading out to a free camp on the boundary of the Nitmiluk National Park entry to the Katherine Gorge. When we went shopping and there was no PEPSI cans in the only one supermarket in town. Someone wasn’t happy but there were only bottles for sale.
The next day we were at Woolworths by 8.30 and there was only 6 cartons of pepsi. As Alan got to them, one guy came along and grabbed one, so the other 5 went into the trolley. One very happy chappy.
We then went off to wash DABUS before heading to the hot springs. The water temperature was very comfortable, so over an hour was spent in the water. Heading back to the same free camp and got the larger of the few sites, as we waited for Sue, Gavin and Mitchell to arrive. They are heading up to Darwin. The rest of the day was catching up, a few drinks and around a nice fire.
Friday morning we left the bus and unhitched their caravan and all took off in Sue & Gav’s 4x4 and went to discover Katherine Gorge.
We hiked up to the Baruwei Lookout, which overlooks to Gorge. After our hike we went back to camp had lunch before going back out the
hot springs.
After dinner, we sat outside and watched the Collingwood and Hawthorn match out the back of the bus with a fire going.
Today we are heading back to the hot springs for a dip before we head west and Sue, Gavin and Mitchell head north, each in search of our next adventure.
