So, leaving rainy Byron Bay behind we arrive in beautiful sunny Surfers Paradise.
We were picked up from the bus station and taken to our hostel which on the outside looked like a youth offenders institute, however and the inside was amazing!! The hostel was called 'Surf N Sun' and the first thing you see on entering the hostel is the beautiful pool!! We walked into reception to be greeted by a room full of men watching football and all looking in our direction and I have to say i liked this hostel instantly! ;-)
We quickly checked in and made our way to our room which ...........wait for it........... HAD AN ENSUITE!!!! I couldnt contain my excitment of not having to leave the room to use the bathroom or have a shower! This place got better and better!
If im completely honest, our time at Surfers is a little bit of a blur. I absolutely loved the atmosphere of Surfers and felt like i was on a proper girly holiday. Me and my lovely ladies spent most days shopping for new (tiny) dresses (which between us we now probably own all the dresses in Supree and Cotton On) and the rest of the time was spent on the beach where we lazed around topping up our tans and attempted to perfect the famous jumping picture (which after around 30 attempts still did not produce one shot of us all in the air at the same time) :-(
Most of our evenings were spent in the various pubs and clubs around Surfers. The hostel arranged nightly pub crawls (which woud have been rude if we did not attend) so many a night was spent falling out of clubs.
The first pub crawl was our first night in Surfers and we followed the staff to a club called the Beachhouse. On entering the club we were all pretty excited to be in a proper club as we had not really been in one since Sydney. On this particular nite there was a Malibu promotions event going on and in the corner of the room was a small photo booth surrounded by beach accessories. Once we realised this was a FREE photo booth me and the girls took full advantage posing for numerous photos with a ridiulous amount of accessories. I think the sponsers could see what a fun group of girls we were and asked us to spell out 'MALIBU' with our bodies for his promotional pictures. Fuelled with alcohol we all agreed and the process began. Obviously i was given the letter B which is the most stupid letter to attempt create with your body. I ended up standing on one leg with the other bend inwards and my arms sticking out all over the place. There is no way that i created a B.....i think i actually created a new letter that doesnt even exist!
The night progressed to drunken dancing, Maria meeting an Australian (blake)and disapearing.... Gemma snogging a Canadian and then throwing up... oh and then kissing him again after she had finished throwing up! haha! Me and Emma getting a Hungry Jacks (australians version of burger king) on the way to escorting Gemma back to the hostel and in the process losing Gemma. Luckily, we found her again wondering aimlessly down the sea front slurring down the phone to her friends in England tellin them she was lost in Australia (not quite sure what she was expecting them to do). Before arriving back at the hostel we spotted an excellent photo opportunity with a Surfers Paradise floor sign and all put our feet by the sign to show where we were...... however as we were all a little intoxicated no one could keep there feet still enough for the pic to be taken!
The rest of Surfers followed pretty much the same pattern as that first night and our initial plan of staying 3 days quickly changed into 6 fun, alcohol fuelled, party days!
Even on the one night where me and Emma thought it best to have a night in and not get drunk there was no escaping the party! We did leave our door open in attempt to maybe socialise with backpackers other than our usual girl group and we may have regretted this as a few minute later, we were bombarded by our italian neighbours we asked us to take showers with them and forced us to take part in their crazy Italian dancing which involved swinging each other around by our arms and singing... 'la, la, la, la!' After this experience i gain a new appriciation of the lovely girls ive been travellnig with the decided it was a gud idea to stick with them! ;-)
We had a short reunion with some of the others guys from Oz Intro before we left and made our way to Brisbane.
