This trip to cape tribulation included a detour via Mossman Gorge - very impressive gorge, creeks and rainforest (almost seen enough strangler figs to do me for the next decade!).
We then crossed the Daintree river to visit a rainforest discovery centre (it just sprung up on us!) just incase we missed anything in our other rainforest visits. Apparently there was - Idiospermum australiense (Idiot Fruit).
We followed this with a visit to the Daintree ice cream to sample, you guessed it, ice cream from fruits grown on site. Very tasty. I had actually been here many years before - but dad didn't need to know this!
We continued north to Cape Tribulation itself for a quick walk on the beach and up to the lookout before heading back to Port Douglas before the darkness set in (and bar closed!).
Was nice to drive over Noah Creek again - brought back some good memories from the trip up there many years ago.
Next day we visited Daintree village itself and snuck in a tour to hopefully see some of the crocs we have so far avoided on the trip. Not to be disappointed we spotted 3 crocs - the last of which was on the move and to the minor concern of the skipper proceeded to glide straigh towards our boat before sinking below the surface. We didn't see it again
also visited a WW2 historical site. it was so poor it wasn't worthy of a photo. Apparently during the war near this spot (i.e. about 200 away) a girl almost got hit by a piece of shrapnel from a bomb.
Highly recommend a trip to Mossman Gorge.
