Hey All
First let me wish you all a Merry Christmas. Hope you are all enjoying the holidays as much as we are.
Today we are Antigua, Guatemala. This town is sooo pretty I could live here for a while, alas we are only here for 3 days.
So from our last Blog entry I think we were in Granada looking for Nachos. Didn't find Mama Nacho in Granada so had to settle for fajitas instead. Granada was very pretty and a little colonial but most of it was very run down. Our hostel was great with a pool and hammocks around a couple of central courtyards and we had TV (can't find the exclamation mark on this keyboard).
The next day we went off to Little Corn Island which is on the Reef in the Carribean. This is a little gem of an island, typically like the postcards of white sand beaches lined with palm trees. We were in heaven. The snorkelling was amazing here and we were blessed with really clear visibility. Saw lots of sting rays, barracudas, tropical fish and good coral but no sharks yet...hoping to catch up with these in Belize. We could snorkel right off the beach here.
Again the food was divine. We were staying at Casa Iguana in a beach facing cabana with an outside toilet and shower but having 3 course dinners every night cooked by a real chef who was trained at one of the famous culinary schools in New York. The best meal so far has been his lobster linguini and baileys chocolate cake. His girlfriend is still learning how to make mojitos but has a beautiful smile.
The Cuban restaurant is also worthy of mention as I now want to go to Cuba and enrol in a cooking school. The sauces and spices were are colouful as the coral around this island.
I wish I could load up some our photos to show you how turqoise the water is around here. You will just have to wait until we get back.
With nothing to do on the island except swim, snorkel, dive if you could, sleep, eat and read in the hammocks we agreed we were rested enough after 4 days and flew back to Managua, With a 7 hour lay over until our next flight up to Guatemala I decided to hit the shopping malls (yes we found a real american shopping mall with american brands finally) for some trainers, tevas, clothes and a backpack. Finally feel like I have enough luggage for the rest of our holiday.
Last night we arrived in Antigua and have yet to explore...will fill you in later.
Bye for now
Love Crena
