Can I start with a joke?
What do you get when you cross a few local inn's and a girl named Brooke?
Innsbruck, Austria. (That joke is copyrighted for any comedians with intentions of using thus comedy gold).
Innsbruck is a relatively small city in the mountains with a population of a touch over 100,000. I was hoping to add to that population but couldn't find a local girl willing. It is famous for hosting two separate winter olympics in the 60's and 70's, and the innagrual youth winter Olympics in 2012. Swarovski crystals also started in Innsbruck, and we actually visited Swarovski crystal world.
Youth Hostel Innsbruck is where we slept, chilled and added a few passages to out forthcoming novel "size matters". On our first night we were the only inhabitants in our 6 bed dorm, obviously not including Oscar our parakeet and mutual best friend. However in the adjacent rooms on our floor we had some interesting neighbours. They may have been French, German, Italian or Spanish, we weren't sure, but the point is they were a bunch of muppets. I'm sure we would have loved them if we enjoyed hearing loud music at 6am, or hearing guys playing "penis" at regular intervals throughout the night. Inhabitants aside, it was a good hostel with clean facilities that had limited PHP (plughole pubes) and a breakfast that had fresh bread.
The best activity that we did in Innsbruck was definitely the Swarovski Crystal World. It probably had an unfair advantage when it came to that title as it was our only activity, but it was very impressive nontheless. During our visit we encountered the biggest crystal in the world, the smallest crystal in the world and a creepy guy hiding in the bushes photographing children. The first two were slightly more impressive. Some of the photos from crystal world are worth a look on our facebooks, especially of the entrance. Crystalworld is located under a hill, but the hill has been made in the shape of a humans upper body, with a waterfall flowing out of the mouth. The whole place is put together superbly. The gift shop is an experience in itself, and would be a great place to buy gifts if you had just robbed a bank or had collected a few million five cent coins for fun. There was a crystal iguana for €23500 which would be awsome for umm people who really like iguanas I guess (probably a good substitute for real life friends).
Although we only had 2 nights in Innsbruck, it doesn't need a long time to be a good time! (there are a few girls who have heard that line from me!). It was a nice little stop and a nice change from the big smoke.
Venice awaits us today and on behalf of Austria, farewell!
Ps. I have since been told (quite aggresively) that I cannot speak on behalf of Austria so I have to withdraw that farewell.
