We arrived at Karen's aunts house for the wedding just in time to find a White marque in the grounds of two houses that has been joined by an interconnecting passage way ( we later discovered that the aunt had given her house to her daughter and built a smaller one next door).
Their must of been around 40 guests which appeared to be mostly family with Karen only having two friends in total plus their guests.
The service was conducted by a official registrar of marriages with Karens brother in law doing the master of ceremonies, it was a lovely wedding with the dress looking really nice but you could not feel a little sorry for them with the constant onslaught of flys throughout the service. It must be very hard to repeat your vows with flys crawling up your nose!
We later sat down in the house for the dinner with a couple of speeches being made between each course.... It was Tobies speech that touched me with his reference that the wedding beyond those who lived close had been made very special with those who had travelled so far to share their day with them.
As the evening went on we gradually got to know all those around our table who's average age must of been around 60 and were mostly aunts from both sides, who turned out to be real characters, two aunts of Tobies for instance were generally interested in Clare Phd as they were real historical film buffs.
Eventually we gave our Apologies and left around 9.30 as we had to find our way back through the bush to out abode and I was concerned about skippy the bush kangaroo jumping out in front of us.
