So a very chaotic last couple of days! Yesterday was really good fun, we went out to a salsa club in san jose, little bit terrifying driving through streets of prostitutes and we felt very strange when we first got there but the locals soon made it clear they were keen to show us their moves. Once we had realised that dance is an artform to them, and not just a way to hit on girls, we gladly obliged and I was amazed at how much having a good partner can actually make you dance, even though i have never danced the salsa. They really knew their moves! Despite a slightly hilarious encounter with a karaoke machine, which was much appreciated by the local, and a less hilarious encounter with an illegal taxi, we got home safely.
Today was a little more interesting. the godlike sergio became somewhat less godlike when he failed to show up for my one to one lesson today. Things continued to go downhill when after an hour and a half of phone calls it became apparent that sterling travellers cheques are not accepted in costa rica, leaving me with 5000 colones, about 5 quid!
Anyway the day has picked up a bit as we have booked a trip to manuel antonio, look on google images and u will see why. The weather is starting to improve, when the sun comes out it is literally scorching and we are so close to the equator that it is very very high up and intense. Also just had a salsa lesson after yesterdays antics, and being dragged by a girl in my group. Was very entertaining but I think much more my sister's scene than mine! Boogiewoogie! There is video evidence.
Anyhow tomorrow we are going to Grecia and Sarchi, two typical towns, and Poas volcano. Should be very beautiful. I am taking photos but unfortunately have not yet found a computer I can upload them on. Sunday I am going canopeying, basically zip wiring across a rainforest so hopefully lots of beautiful wildlife!
Monday I start my volunteer placement. Thankfully have got the one I want and am working with 5 others with a group of underpriviledged and orphanaged kids. We are working in the afternoon, a tactical move to try and get some sun in the morning before it rains. I will have internet access most mornings before I head over there as I will still be allowed to use the academy's facilities.
Just to add, for nana's benefit...yes they are feeding us well. Luckily we seem to have the only healthy costa rican here and we get delicious chicken casseroles etc instead of all that fried rubbish. I love my costariccense family, they are a little crazy but literally go the extra mile to help and the mother seems delighted to spend time talking to me in spanish. I cant remember if I said before but another girl from chicago has moved in, although she is staying for 4 months! She seems really nice too. Although Anna still gets rice and beans for breakfast while I have fruit and cereal, she seems happy with it!
Much love to everyone, I always have my phone on for txts, and i can text back pretty cheaply!

Hasta luego
