So here I am in costa rica! After a horrific flight, not helped by the fact that the second leg got delayed 3 hours with us sat on the plane, I arrived in San Jose at close to midnight. I had my first taste of Costa Rican driving as we boarded the very vintage bus and drove around dropping peopple off at their host families for an hour or so. Finding out I was staying on my own despite what I had been led to believe was a big blow but the natural warmth of my host family softened it(although this was not met by literal warmth as the house has no hot water and no heating). Thus began a night of shivering jetlag, fractured by the barks of neighbourhood dogs and mopeds.
I awoke (if this is the right word, having had little sleep) to a beautiful day. I had an icy shower then was served rice, beans and scrambled eggs for breakfast (no laughter please). CUe number two experience of costa rican buses, basically a terrifying free for all at super speed, with change being lobbed at the driver. At the school I managed to ace (not) my spanish test in my slightly disorientated state and spent the first day of the language school doing the present tense. However I may count my failure a blessing as my 22 year old teacher, Sergio, is as we would say in Spanish "muy guapo"!
I have met some awesome people here though which is probably the best thing. Luckily now another girl on my trip is being moved nto my house as we were both unhappy on our own. I am currenltly waiting for a bus home and a lonely evening until this happens.
Yes, probably more rice and beans too.
And before you ask....yes, the torrential rain began at 11am and hasnt stopped yet.
Much love to alll xxxxx
