Good morning folks,
You are probably waking up to the bad news of the earthquake in NZ. We are at the opposite end of the country on the North Island and has made no difference to us at all. The local news is obviously full of reports. Looks pretty bad with after shocks. 65 deaths so far.....
We have taken the kids to a potential new school today and they seemed to like it. Maybe something to do with the outdoor swimming pool.
We have also been back to our cliff top mansion today, that overlooks the turqoise coloured sea bay views. We were not sure wich one of the 4 beaches or small cove to go to within 5 minutes of the house, yes that is true 5 minutes. We are still looking at everything with rose tinted spectacles at the moment.
This place is visually spectacular with no straight roads and a visual feast round every corner. Then there is the weather. Now for some bad news today we have had good old fashioned drizzle. but still warm.
In the winter we have 6 weeks of rain to look forwrd to. So I said to the KIWI that just sounds like a british summer.
Hope you are all well and looking forward to spring.
Andy..........

simon watson Glad to hear your all still enjoying your new home its a tough life living 5 min's from the sea . Now about that rain nothing can prepare you for the rain we have here it might only be for 6 weeks but its two years worth of uk rain in that time .
Nat Sounds like a hard life!!! Cannot believe how idyllic life sounds for you all! Trying to persuade Jon!!! School sounds good and glad the girls are settling well to their new life. Charlie often thinks of you all, and Sam was very worried about you when I told him about the earthquake (glad you are far away but how awful for those poor people! Did you feel it??) Take care and can't wait til next installment! x
Pops & Elly Just got your e mail & picts. Did u get my (Mob) Tex this morning,so glad u r ok. Take care xx
Chris and John So glad the earthquake was nowhere near you. You all sound really happy, school sounds good. Really look forward to your updates.
Judith You were our first thought when we heard news of the earthquake at 6am - thank goodness for modern technology as a quick minute on the computer and I realised you were not nearby. Glad all is going so well. Take care xx
CAROLE K WOW! Missed the news today so had no idea. glad you were well clear of that. sounds like the strain is showing, sounds awful out there, perhaps you'd better come back!! ha ha!! So glad everything is starting to slot in place xx
Rusty Was wondering if you were all okay. I know you mentioned Christchurch at one point. Don't you have friends there? So, school sorted ... when do you start work? Your house sounds great. How long can you stay there?
Pam Thought about you all as I trekked up Snowdon yesterday - and yes Snowdon had been snowed on! Funny to think we're all under the same sky huh? The school sounds fab - more like a holiday camp. Great to hear about the good life.
Richard In regard to the selection of the most appropriate beach / cove i would suggest that you plump for the one which would be most difficult for Greenpeace to land on and to try and get Andy back in the water as this would disturb your enjoment of the facilities
