Hi there everyone,
Have had lots of requests for more blog entries so here it is,the long awaited update to our new life in New Zealand.
We have now been here for 3 months, how time flies eh!!!!
Are settling into the weekly routine of work/school and time off. I continue to work 3 long days whilst Andy is still job hunting and taking on casual work from an agency in the meantime. So I will give you some of the highlights since our last update.
The girls enjoyed their Easter school holidays with trips to the cinema, meeting up with new friends, volcano hunting with Andy and an Easter egg hunt, although the chocolate was so bad Kate refused to eat her eggs!!!!We weren't as fortunate as you with the weather so this hampered our plans for a trip to the Northland which will have to wait till some other time.
We snuggled up on the settee in our PJ's to enjoy watching the Royal Wedding and was glad we are only 11 hours ahead at present. It was such a relief when our tv channel linked up with ITV though and we got much better full coverage of the whole event and was an added bonus getting to see Phillip Schofield doing the presenting. It did give me my first few pangs of homesickness however when I realised we would have loved to be down on the mall enjoying all the celebrations. It also reminded me of my last trip to London with my sister Sarah in January when we visited Westminster Abbey and stood in the exact spot as Kate just to check it out for the royal couple!!followed by champagne tea at The Ritz.
The day after the royal wedding I also celebrated the anniversary of when I married my own prince charming!!!!!!Yes for those of you who were there with us, it has been 11 years now.We took a trip to Waiwera Thermal resort which has hot water pools to relax in with temperatures of between 32 and 48 degrees. The girls especially enjoyed going in the movie pool and watched an entire film whilst floating around in the hot water.
On Sunday 8th May I had my first Mother's Day here, did try and insist on a UK one as well but that request was strangely turned down.We had a lovely warm sunny day and went out visiting the west Auckland coastline which is very rugged and has the black volcanic sand beaches,we were able to walk along the cliffs and see the wild waves. This area is famous for hosting surfing contests. We finished up the day with a yummy ice cream.
On a not so happy note a few weeks ago a tornado ripped through our local shopping mall killing one person and many where left injured. It was amazing seeing the devastation it left that there were not more fataliites.Didn't think it would be reported in the UK but obviously was as we received several messages.
Now its autumn we have a real mixture of weather, some days we have lovely warm sunny days when its about 20 degrees and others like today when we have torrential rain and is like a tropical downpour when its very wet but warm.
We have been so grateful for the support, encouragement and enthusiasm we have had from family and friends since arriving here.It is making our transition so much easier. We love to hear all your news via phone, email, skype, text or letter and would like to say a big THANK YOU to you all and tell you to please keep it coming....................
Well will finish for now but will upload some new photos in the near future.
We miss you lots
Love from Louisa xxxxx
