It's now 11.40 and I'm in bed. So much for an early night. So picking up where we left off. After escaping the cluthes of the housing estate and all of its identical roads, we carried on driving along the coast until we found Mandarie Marina. It was a bit posh! In fact it was a lot posh. I had a cotton dress thrown over my swimmers and for the first time since we arrived I actually felt underdressed! The houses were like mansions and there were yachts parked where most people have cars. Everywhere was pack because it's bank holiday but we managed to get a table in a lovely little place, aptly called the boat, for lunch. We sat outside in the shade and shared a seafood platter, that we waited nearly an hour for. It was lovely to sit outside and watch the sun reflect off of the sea, hear the gulls yelling to each other and really take in our surroundings. I'm trying to commit every single morsel to memory.
From there we went to Whitfords beach. We saw a dead kangaroo en route. Its the first one Nick has seen in the wild and it was dead! We spent some time on the beach, had a paddle and a stroll and plotted up on our blanket.
When we got back we all got ready and headed up to Oscars. Its 2 minutes up the road. It had Greek pictures on the wall but I'm not sure of the connection. The food wasn't greek and nor were the staff. The food was amazing! It was steaks and salads and garlic break. Normal everyday stuff. Richard asked the waitress to hold the sauce though and you'd have thought he'd asked her to hack off her own arm! I think it was the most exciting request she'd had all day. For pudding we had hand made ice cream that was covered in white chocolate and painted to look like fruit. We had an apple and a pear. We all had a lovely evening but thinking about it now makes me feel a bit sick! As does wolf creek 2, the film we just watched! I nearly jumped out of my skin more than once. I'm sure Fella turned the tele up at the scary bits to make me jump on purpose! Looking on the bright side though, it wasn't nearly as scary as the first one.
