Arrived at Surfers Paradise Bus Terminal at just before 6pm. Decided to get in the Christmas spirit and put our Santa hats on ready to meet Catherine - and yep we stood out like a sore thumb although it meant she couldn't miss us! Catherine showed us some of the sights in Surfers Paradise before we headed back to their house on Hope Island where David, Grandpa and Buster were waiting for us. They showed us to our rooms - yep we had a room each - pure luxury and after a shower we sat down to enjoy the scrummiest meal ever. Spent a few hours chatting and looking at pictures of mum as a brisemaid at Catherine and Davids wedding - which unfortunately I forgot to take a photo of with my camera else they would have been up here!!! Anyway we had a nice relaxing Christmas Eve chatting and planned to head for the beach the next day. On Christmas Day morning when we had finally woken up I opened all my cards from home then Catherine and David shouted us into their room for present opening time! Mum's parcel went down very well as both me and amanda had been missing Topshop so a new top and some sweets were the perfect pressie. I would have said we had missed shopping but I cant deny we have been doing plenty of that here - and we havent even got to Melbourne yet!! So we got into our bikinis and Santa hats and headed to the beach in Surfers Paradise for a few hours of sunshine. Spoke to some of the Aussie lifeguards -one of which decided to try and set us both up with his son and the next thing we knew Shane (the son) had come to the beach to meet us! So very random. We could tell from the off that not one of us was at all interested so that put and end to that one and he had a wasted journey! Haha. Catherine came to pick us up a few hours later and we arrived back ready for a yummy Aussie Christmas dinner. The next day we did some sightseeing with Catherine and went up to Tambourine Mountain. We sat in a pub right at the top with a great view of Surfers Paradise then headed inland to see a waterfall. We were so tired when we got back we crashed out and watched Love Actually - the perfect end to a perfect stay on Hope Island. We had booked the bus to Sydney for the afternoon of the 27th.
