Our trip through Europe ended today as we hopped on the plane to Toronto. In our 19 days of travelling we have been in 4 different countries (Swizterland, Lichtenstien, Italy and Vatican City) and have been on planes, trains, and automobiles. We have also been on boats, trams (trolley cars), buses and subways. The only things we have missed are motorbikes and time travelling machines.
Amazingly enough we are all still on speaking terms (probably closer than ever), and we must now be referred to as "Charlie's Angels", or "Angel" if only referring to one of us. We will also accept "Bella" or "Bellissima".
Some of the interesting lessons we have learned from Europe are:
1. When using a public washroom always make sure the water is working before you put soap on your hands
2. In Rome, the lines on the street are more of a guideline for drivers than a rule
3. When maneuvering the narrow streets of small cities, the car horn are usually used as a "hello" (with a small wave) or "I'm coming around the corner"
4. Always carry extra change because you don't want to be stuck having to pee and not being able to pay to use the public facilities
5. "Prego" means "ready" and "here you go". It also means "you're welcome" or "I understand". In fact, it can probably be used in every Italian conversation
6. There are palm trees in Italy
7. You should have a plan for the day, but realize (and accept) that deviations often occur and that the day may end in a completely different direction.
8. Every night in Europe must end with at least one bottle of wine :)
We have landed safely back in Canada and now commence our Toronto vacation....
