Today was not only our last day in Italy, but also Teree's birthday, so we decided we should make sure we did three things for her, visit the Campio di Fiore morning market, look at the jewellery shops in the Jewish Ghetto and find the Bocca della Verite (the Mouth of Truth).
After a little later start to the day, we headed in the direction of Campo di Fiore, but we got side tracked and turned around by small, quaint little alleys and side streets. Somehow we made it to the Trevie Fountain (which is the complete opposite end of the city from Campo di Fiore). Needless to say, we missed the morning market.
Around the Trevie Fountain we did a bit of shopping and grabbed lunch. Seeing as it was Teree's birthday we grabbed a bottle of white wine with lunch, but due to some confusion in the kitchen Robyn's lunch got held up. As a result, she had a liquid lunch while Teree and I ate, and she got a little tipsy (oops).
After lunch we wandered again, and this time made it to the Spanish Steps (again further from Campo di Fiore) and continued a little shopping (mostly window shopping in this area). Robyn needed a little potty break (because of her liquid lunch) and she ended up in the largest McDonald's in world (right by the Spanish Steps). It didn't look that impressive from the outside, but apparently it was quite confusing inside.
By this point we'd given up on going to Campo di Fiore, and headed in the direction of the Bocca della Verite instead. At some point in the afternoon it started pouring, so we took cover in the shops (and of course made a few purchases).
Feeling discouraged with the rain (and getting absolutely soaked), we hopped on a bus back to the hotel. Because of our attention spans and the weather we weren't able to make it to any of our destinations today. Back at the hotel, we took the opportunity to pack up our suitcases and ready ourselves for tomorrow's flight to Toronto. Surprising to all of us, we managed to fit all of our luggage in our suitcases (whether they are underweight is a completely different question.
We finished off the night by getting dressed up and heading out for dinner and drinks for Teree's birthday at the Campo di Fiore (better late than never), which proved to be a very eventful night.
Tomorrow we head back to Canada....
