Rob and Jen bumming round the world for a bit
Woi OIIIIII!!!
Not been too long since our last update but we're just filling in a bit of time in our last few days in Melbourne and getting our photo's sorted (which should be up shortly), so i thought i'd give you a bit of info about our Neighbours nights...
Not quite what i expected on the 'meet the stars night' to be honest. The crowd being a large majority female was perhaps understandable but their shameless cries for attention from the cast members was yae embarrasing for all concerned. I assumed it would be a little more laid back than it was, the pub the night was staged in was absolutely rammed and we only got a couple of seconds to have a photo with each star (Max, Ganelle and Harold if you were wondering). Having said that though, the night was well worth it, i just probably wouldn't go back in a hurry!
The next night we went off to see Stingray's band (Batman Street...?), a 9 piece Funk/Jazz sort of combo, doing covers, with 'Stinger' on vocals, followed by Dr Karl and The Waiting Room! Karl treated us to more covers, a bit more contemporary this time, including stuff from the Killers and 'I Predict a Riot' from the Kaizer Chiefs amongst others, and a few of his own songs (including songs about Izzy and Susan. Brilliant). Can't say Karl and his band were musically brilliant, but it was a great show.
After our neighbours excitement, it was time to try my hand in the poker room at the local casino. I was as nervous as the day i was born when i first sat down to play, partly because it was my first time in a casino and partly becasue the lowest limit game available was a $4-$8 game, meaning in the later rounds of betting, you could be putting down anywhere between $8 and $32. It probably wasn't advisable to play in a limit higher than i'm used to but i was here for the experience and wouldn't make a habit out of it, even if i had the chance. As it happens, i ended up leaving about $25 down (about 11quid) after about an hour and half, hopefully having leanred enough about the game to make that cost worthwhile in the future!
rightyo, that's enough for now. We're off to New Zealand on Saturday so our next update will be after a few days there. My family will be there to see us when we arrive aswell, which will be wicked. Might get to eat at a decent restaurnat for once!
good morrow, rob
