Rob and Jen bumming round the world for a bit
Hello all,
i feel it is time for another swift update...
left sydney last monday and headed for Canberra, where we would be spending a few days. It was an odd place, to say the least. Very green and open but also really quiet, not what you'd expect of a capital city at all. We spent our few days in Canberra seeing the local attractions, such as the Australian Mint, and the old and new parliaments. All very interesting. Didn't do much else, this being down to having an excellent hostel to keep us occupied. The way i see it, we might as well make use of some good facilities (digitial tv, pool, sauna) etc. when we havethem, 'cus you never can tell just how s*** the next place might be, depsite all your research.
As it happens, our next place, in Melbourne where we are now (our last stop in Australia) is not too bad. We paid much less than expected fopr our week or so here, having been told the prices wouldbe inflated for the 'Com' games, we were pleased to see paying inadvance brought them right down again.
So, as i say, we're in Melbourne now. Another really nice place. We arrived a few days ago on the overnight bus (horrible) and have been busy little beavers. The first highlight coming in our visit to the MCG as it is known (Melbourne Cricket Ground) to see some of the Com Games athletics, no golds for the English lads i'm afraid (though we had the pleasure of listening to the Australian National Anthem on numerous occasions. The second major highlight came Sunday morn as we headed off on the official Neighbours tour, getting plenty of photos on Ramsey Street!
The Neighbours fun doesn't end there though, we're off to 'meet the stars' tonight and to see Dr Karl's and Stingray's band (two seperate bands).
Almost been away 2 months now, so i can't remeber anyones faces. Perhaps some of you could leave descriptions on the message board,
cheers, rob.
