We arrived at Trilby Station after our 6 and a half hour journey....covering a total of 454 km! 160km of that was on a Red Dust track, by the time we got to the Cottage at Tribly Station our car was no longer Silver and shiny it was Red/Orange!!! Even in the door seals!!!
The farm/Station was awesome a real Outback experience, we packed alot into those 2 nts. The first night we got there we bought stuff ready for a BBQ, so Nick went outside to fire it up, all of a sudden i heard this huge bang....!!! looked out of the kitchen window to find Jordan looking at Nick oddly and asking him if he was ok. So ran outside to find Nick dusting himself down and picking himself up off the verrandah floor. The last person to use the BBQ Had left the middle burner on, so when Nick went to light it it sent him flying, singeing his hair in the proccess!! Poor Nick lost half his eyelashes too. I had cut his hair prior to leaving for our hols and had to cut it a bit more to get the singed look off it....we had a laugh afterwards about it, but it was scarey at the time!
The Station owners had done a 'Mud Map Trail' round their 220,000 acre land, it was a 50 km track, so we thought it would be a good way to go exploring without getting lost!! Liz the owner gave us some Yabby nets so we could go Yabby fishing. She told us to make sure that we hold onto the rope at the end of the net and that if the whole net and rope goes into the water then so will one of us to go retrieve it!...So we get to the water hole and successfully launch one net into the water, tieing the rope to one of the ancors on the waters edge, then it comes to the 2nd net......Yep youve guessed it, Aaron decided that after my help of holding onto the first one that he would hold the 2nd one on his own whilst Nick throws the net into the water and ........Yes Youve guessed it......the rope slipped out of Aarons hands as Nick threw the net in, so now the whole net is a good way into the water and Nick has to strip down to his Shreddies and wade in to retrieve the net.....Well that was soo funny, we were rolling round the floor laughing our asses off!!!! Once we put the 2nd net back into the water properly off we went exploring the Mud Map whilst our nets were hopefully catching lots of yummy Yabbys!!!
We saw loads of Emu's and Roos on our trail, it was awesome to see. once we had finished our mud map tour we drove back to our Yabby Nets, we had caught loads we put most of them back and took some back to the cottage to have with our meal. We had never tried Yabbys before they were very nice and much like prawns!
It was amazing to be out in the open, we watched the sunset and did some star gazing so beautiful, we had no artificial lighting around just the stars glistening in the sky!
The kids had a ball, playing with the owners puppies and collecting eggs from the chickens for our breakfast, also building a fire in the outdoor fire pit! Also used the pool too.
