After leaving home Monday morning we got to our accommodation in Oberon, dropped our luggagge off and went to Jenolan Caves. We booked a tour around The Temple of Baal, we also booked The Orient Cave for the next morning. We only had a few mins spare to have a quick look round before meeting up with our guide who took us round The Temple of Baal. It was an amazing sight to see, and only 288 steps to conquer, after that we made our way back to Oberon, only 20 mins away and found a local Hotel to have some dinner before going back to our cabin.
The next day Tues, we got up and drove to Jenolan for our guided tour round the Orient Cave...This was our best cave to look round...lots to see and more spetacular than the Temple of Baal. Had a few more steps to conquer that day 358, but they were well worth it. Both Caves were absolutley stunning in their own way. We got a bit of lunch after the tour and then went onto look round the self guided tour of The Devils Coachhouse and then a nice stroll around the lake. We then drove onto Kanangra Walls, was a 29 Km drive down a dirt track but there was some awesome wildlife on the way....lots of Wallabees we even saw a echidna crossing the track before us, Sylvia managed to jump out of the car and got a great pic of it! Once at the end of this dirt track we had a small 15 min walk to the most amazing lookout, It started to rain and a brightly coloured rainbow appeared from the bottom of the 1000 foot valley below us! As we got back to the car park there was a little Wallabee standing around our car, but it soon hopped off once it heard us comming!
On the way back to Oberon we saw lots of Roos laying around in the local fields. We also went and had a look at Oberon Dam, its water level was very low!! There was also a kids play park there, so we had a great time acting like big kids! We drove back to our accommodation and then walked to the local RSL cub for dinner! It was very cold at night only 4 degrees, we are not used to it being that cold!!!
We left Oberon this morning and drove three and a half hours to Dubbo, stopping briefly at Orange for toilet break and then again for lunch at Wellington...good ole Mc D's!!! We have got nice accommodation here at Dubbo and the weather is slightly warmer here too, 16 degrees. Had a drive around Dubbo to get our bearings one we had booked into our Accommodation, then came back and chilled out for an hour or so before going out again to Hogs Breath for dinner then onto the local Ten Pin Bowling Alley for a couple of games.
Just chilling out now and deciding what to do tomoz.....! Might do Dubbo Western Plains Zoo!!
