Hello to a very snowy Scotland!
Scotland has made the news on Melbourne television due to the crazy amounts of snow you have!We both feel pretty sorry for you all having to deal with it.....but we prefer the Melbourne sun!
We are sorry to say that we still have very little news for you; we have been working fairly hard and spending our hard earned pay on booking the next leg of our grand adventure.
We left you with Gillian having some dilemma about which job she should take and she was being offered work left, right and centre!Nothing was going right for Gillian and the drama with jobs continued....yet again! This is her story...
GILLIAN
Well I was working for a temp agency on a job that was going to last for six weeks. It didn't even make a full two weeks before the job was cancelled! This had me in a pickle as I was stuck with no job and rent to pay, so I was starting to panic! At that point, my landlord called me telling me he was popping round with a new TV and by the off chance I asked him if he had any cleaning work and what did you know, he did.He told me a long story about how his cleaners weren't really doing their job etc......so basically welcomed me with open arms! So in a space of two hours I lost and gained a job! I have been quite lucky! So I will be cleaning for them up until we leave Melbourne. It will also give them a chance to find my replacement....good luck haha!I was told today that if I was staying in Melbourne for the rest of my time in Australia he would offered me a permanent position (because nobody cleans like me).
CLAIRE
Well there is nothing I can say really about my job, except that the owner boss dragon woman doesn't like me because I don't like to follow old ladies around throwing shoes in their face! The only highlight of my time there was meeting Dr. Karl Kennedy from Neighbours when I fitted school shoes for his son and meeting Phil from Relocation Relocation Relocation hehe! That made my week and I was so star struck by meeting Karl....I couldn't even speak to him!It was typical that he spoke to me about Man Utd!Also, I have made a good friend Josh who makes the days go past quick with his stories and jokes! He even took me and Gillian out one night to his local bar in Brighton. It was there that we met a little old lady Anne who was probably in her 80's but boy could she speak...and the stories she came out with had all of us (and surrounding Aussies enjoying a Sunday drink) in stitches.
So other then work, we don't have much more going on.This past week however, we have ventured out to see a bit more of Victoria.Claire went on a road trip with Darren and saw Ramsay Street (Neighbours)...but they were filming so we couldn't get closer! Also, a trip down to Philip Island where the Penguins are found and a few other beach spots throughout the last couple of weeks taking in the sights and the weather Victoria has to offer.
Gillian decided last Saturday that she would go see the Neighbours set! It was raining! It never rains in Ramsey Street! I didn't care I got to meet some of the cast Janelle Timmons and Kate Ramsey! They were really nice, so down to earth! When I got on the bus we were told that Neighbours was moving to channel 11 and that we were partaking in a documentary! I was interviewed and was asked questions on what I love about neighbours, what my favourite memories were and lots of other questions. I am really excited but nervous that I am going to be on Australian TV! Then we went to the rest of the set and saw all the local Erinsbourgh sights, Charlie's, Lou's Carpenters Mechanics and Harold's Cafe! There are photos up on Gillian's facebook!!
On Sunday we decided to use Claire's birthday present from Craig and Harley and went on a tour along The Great Ocean Road also known as the Ship Wreck Coast. It was a very early start with the weather looking less than pleasing. The tour bus picked us up at 07:30 before driving an hour and a half down to a place called Geelong and into Torquay where the famous Belle's beach is found...surfers paradise! It is where the movie Break Point was filmed with Patrick Swayze. We drove along the amazing Great Ocean Road and taking in all the sights and what's more...the weather!!! It turned out to be a pretty nice day with beautiful sights!!!! We went to a place called Lorne and Apollo Bay, went for a walk in a rainforest, found some wild koalas and fed some brightly coloured birds that landed everywhere...even on our heads. The main attraction was the 12 Apostles, well the remaining 4 or 5 Apostles with the amount of erosion that has happened over the years. Our final stops was to the Loch Ard Gorge where a romantic tale occurred when a ship ran aground and only 2 survivors ended up washing up in this gorge and they were married and all the jazz! Also London bridge....and yes, this must be the 2nd or 3rd London bridge that I, Claire have come across in my travels! It was a long but brilliant trip...arriving back home in St Kilda at 11pm!We will post some of the photos on the blog for you to have a look!
So we think we should end up with a little run through of our plans for the next few weeks so that you know where we are and what we are up to!So we are in Melbourne until the 11th December when we fly back to Sydney. We then fly to Christchurch in New Zealand the next day on the 12th for our Contiki tour.We will be travelling both islands arriving in Auckland on the 26th December. We fly into Sydney again on the 27th to celebrate the New Year, hopefully in a non-drunk, classy style hehe!On the 7th January, myself, Gillian and Kyle will be flying to Cairns where we will soak up the sun and recover (did I say that)! We will be taking part in a rainforest and Great Barrier Reef tour which has to be a must in this trip. Finally on the 16th January, we are flying back to where it all started...back in Perth where we will hopefully settle and job hunt all over again until the next adventure!
We just want to say that we miss you all, we hope all is well and finally......stay warm!!!
