Sorry for the late update, its been a busy few days.
So,i will start where we left off, on Wednesday we had a pretty chilled day as most people were recovering from the night before. We headed into the city to sort various things out like our bank account and Medicare cards, after that we went for some lunch at darling harbour before we headed to the aquarium. It was a nice aquarium, but when you have seen one, you have seen them all haha. That night we all went out and got a dominos pizza, took it back to the hostel and pretty much chilled all night.
On Thursday we headed down to the world famous Bondi beach... it's not all that special to be honest, just a normal beach with sand and water. We stayed there for a couple of hours and then went on our coastal walk, it took us roughly an hour/ hour 30mins to get from Bondi back to Coogee but it was worth it, even though it was a little hot. Views were amazing and it was a nice chilled out thing to do, once we arrived we had our first official BBQ on the beach, nice food, plenty of laughs and few games of volleyball here and there. Once we got back, it was a quick shower and then we all went out for a meal, $10 for a main, side and a drink... not bad! After that it was pretty much an early night as we had to be up early the next morning.
Friday was a day that i think we had all been looking forward to, however, we did not like the early morning! Anyway, once we were up and ready we went and waited for the bus, there wasn't enough room on one bus for all of us, so 8 of us ended up on the second bus, which we didn't mind until we found out that we wouldn't actually be walking with the other group, we would be picking other people up from the city and going with them.It was a bit disappointing at first but we soon got over it and decided to enjoy our day. It did take us forever to get there though, we were told that it would probably take us an hour/ hour 30 to get there including our breakfast stop, but after setting off at 6.45am we finally arrived at our breakfast stop around 9.30am. It took a further hour to actually get to the Blue Mountains after a failed attempt at spotting some kangaroos but when we got there and looked out over the look-out point we all became tourists again and got our cameras out and proceeded to head out into the mountains. Our tour guide never stopped talking the entire day we were there... ive never met someone so passionate about trees in my life, however he did entertain us with a pretty funny story about a Japanese girl and a Wallaby. He also proceeded to take us on the most outward trails, which were all down thousands of steps, we would see some beautiful waterfalls and views and then he would tell us we had to walk back up the thousands of steps we walked down earlier. How I'm not a size 10 right now I'll never know.I have some amazing photos from the entire day, and we really did enjoy it, even though it may not seem like i have in this blog haha. However, the thing that made and nearly broke the day was the way we got back up the mountain. We were told we were "getting on a train" and with that statement none of us thought anything of it, until we actually got the "station". Our guide failed to mention that this so called train was the in fact the world's most vertical train, one that pretty much has you in an upright position when going up it. I don't think any of us have been so scared, especially when we saw what was behind the bumper if the train crashed or broke down...thin air is what I believe someone used. But we made it up there in one piece, some a little scared from the whole experience, but all in all, ok! All, of the trauma was removed when we went outside and saw some naked statues, ive never seen the boys move so fast to get photos of themselves in some rather compromising positions. Very funny though!! After that it was a long bus ride home, i got some pictures of my fellow travel partners asleep, but im not allowed to post them, especially the ones of Claire as i think she might kill me!!That night again we went for something to eat, then went for a few drinks at the local bar before having an early night.
Saturday was an early one for us as we had our meetings at the OzIntro office to discuss what we wanted to do next. After being in there for an hour we finally decided what we wanted to do, so we are heading up the east coast, and aim to have it all done and dusted within 3-4 weeks, after that we will return to a place we liked along the way and try to find some work. It was a stressful morning, and seemed to get even more stressful as we headed into Sydney to look for our outfits for the pub crawl we were having later that night. We had decided to do Cave Girls, and the mission was to find something... anything with leopard prints on, hair spray, body paint and a bone. After hours and hours of getting lost and walking up and down the streets in Sydney we eventually found what we needed so we headed back, got something to eat and started to get ready. We all looked pretty damn good, even if i do say so myself. Everyone made the effort, even those in the other groups who all went out dressed in togas and as super heroes. We even made it back onto the party bus... which is a crazy experience in itself! We had such a good time; there was plenty of booze, and plenty of scandal... which in the morning led to plenty of hangovers!!
Sunday was pretty much recovery day, and at night went all went for our leaver's meal up at Sydney tower. It's not the place you really want to go after a big night out the day before as it rotates around the city... but you are very aware of it moving, so as long as you keep your eyes averted from the windows and the floor, you will have no problem keeping your food down.
Yesterday (Monday) was moving day, we finally left surfside and moved into the Base hostel, it is a city hostel and much nicer than that the other, air conditioned for a start. It's like moving into a 5star hotel after being in a shack. Today we are just getting our east coast finalised, and are then heading to the cinema to see Avatar... should be a good day!!
Hopefully it won't be so long before i check in again, however internet will be limited over the next couple of weeks. If you need to get hold of me quickly, give me a ring on 0061 450 847 533.
Otherwise, ill check in soon!! x
