Hello again!!
Not much to update on really, spent most of last week in Sydney, not really doing much as it's too expensive, so we chilled out at Hyde Park, went to the Cinema to see Avatar and had a walk around the many streets and shops Sydney holds. It was a good week, but we were glad to leave on Saturday morning!
We had to be up at 5.00 as the bus was picking us up at 6.15, so there was 7 very tired travellers to start the day, and we were about to head on a 10 hour bus journey to Spot X Surf Camp. Oz Experience bus drivers are very strange individuals, and get very excited at the smallest of things... for instance... a rain cloud! We did worry for our safety a few times, as it's not normal to be that upbeat and cheerful at 6 in the morning and continue to be throughout the entire journey. We worried even more when she told us to get off the bus in this little town in the middle of nowhere, shut the door and said she would be back in 15! 29 people stood there as their bags, money, laptops, cameras and everything else drove away with a promise to be back in 15.
She did actually come back, and we later found out that she had been to fuel the bus... apparently its illegal to fuel the bus with people on it in Oz.
Anyway after a few more stops we eventually arrived at Spot X, we were put in what can only be described as a shack and told to meet a 6.30 for dinner/tea/grub whatever you want to call it... food!! We ate properly for the first time since we got here, it was like a roast dinner... it's also the first time I think we have all been so quiet is a large space of time! After that the drinking started as did the rain... it was a really good night, and photos will be posted soon.
The next morning we had a wakeup call at 7am, and we had to surf at 9am... it was a lot different to that last time that we surfed... the waves were a lot bigger, which when you look at them you think is pretty cool. Not so much when you're actually in the water and those waves are coming at you, while you're trying to control this big board that is attached to your leg! With that said... I DID STAND UP!! Woo hoo!!
After the surf lesson we went to have some lunch, and then headed back onto the bus for another 3-4 hours before he arrived in Byron Bay. It's a really nice little beach town and I can easily see why people stay here! We haven't really done that much exploring since we have been here as our hostel has a pool... which is something we have all craved for since arriving in Australia.
Tomorrow (Thursday) we head to Surfers Paradise to meet up with the rest of the group from Sydney, we are all really looking forward to seeing each other again and plan to head to Australia's biggest themepark Dream World.
Ill post photos soon, and keep you updated as and when I can!
Miss you all!!
Check in Soon xx
