Spent 3 nights in Auckland. Lovely city but there wasnt much to do there (except shopping!) Day trip to Waitomo caves. We walked throught the caves and got a slow boat trip through the glow-worm grotto. Then it was onto Rotorua. On our first night we took a tour round the Tamaki Maori Village where we saw traditional dance and ate food cooked in the traditional way (underground). They finished off the night by performing the Haka!! The following day we went white water rafting. We dropped down a 7m waterfall and went through lots of rapids! All managed to saty in the raft!! Sweeeeeeee!! The following day we visited Wai o Tapu to see Lady Knox Geyser erupt.
Taupo - A lovely little place. In the morning we did a Bungee swing and then went on to do skidiving. We went up to 15,000ft. Free falling for 60s. The best thing I have done so far!! The views were amazing and we could see bothe the East and the West coast of the island. I got a DVD, photos and a T-shirt. Next stop, Wellington. A lovely city, I prefered it to Auckland. Only stayed here one night (It was a big one, with lots of drinking!!). Up early the next morning to get the ferry over to the South Island. Spent one night in Nelson and then moved on to Graymouth. In the evening we went on a brewery tour round Monteith's Brewery where we got to sample lots of the beers. Then in the evening we had a BBQ. Arrived in Franz Josef today. Staying here for 2 nights. Tomorrow we are doing a full day of glacier hiking! Should be fun.
